Episode 3 – Overnight Visit

We’ve met them!

It didn’t take long to fall in love. This episode is about:

  • First night: Playing with My Little Pony at the county facility
  • Second night: Going out for milkshakes
  • Third night: An overnight visit in our home
  • Plus, the pros and cons of being certified through a Foster Family Agency

  1. Congratulations! We’re so happy for you!

We’ll be praying for a smooth transition for the girls to your house. I’ve seen you with our kids, so I know you’ll do great.

(Micah keeps asking me, why are tim and wendy on our computer?)

  2. We were so excited to hear this episode about the girls staying overnight that I couldn’t stand to wait for our home “dial up” internet connection to download. So we rushed up to the church which has broadband and we were not disappointed. Is so exciting to be on this journey with you all. And this is the first time I’ve ever referred to myself as Grandma. I like the sound of it. We can’t wait for the next episode.

  3. Wow, they are beautiful. I guess the pink room will stay pink and Tim will have to put the pigskin away and become familar with the My Little Pony names for now. We can’t wait to meet your two girls when we return. We will be praying for all four ouf you! Love Larry

  4. Exciting exciting exciting!!!!!!!! We’ll be praying for the transition. Can’t wait to meet the girls one day.

The little photo album was a great idea! And the room sounds so fun. So glad they like the cat and swingset. You are pros already!

  5. That is great news. It sounds like the sleep over was all that it could be… with much learned on both sides. We are praying for all of you and we are anxious to hear of the news that has transpired these last few days.

  6. I am so excited for you both and this is very exciting. Dan and I were looking at the pictures of the girls the other day and Mom and Dan both think that Andrea looks an awful lot like me when I was little. Last night we wnet to Mom and Dad’s and Dad was getting out a bunch of toys. I had to help him a little since he only knows about raising boys. At one point Dan and I had to tell him that a monster from Monters Inc. that talks may not be appropriate for the girls at this age or just for girls in general. Needless to say, we are very excited. My only question is what are you both going to do with your work since you now have children who aren’t going to school yet. We both miss you and will keep listening.
    Love your sister,
    Mary Kay

  7. Wow, what a wonderful thing technology is! It is nice to hear the joy in your voices as you talk about Andrea and Linda. Cerissa and I listened together tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Have lots of fun.

  8. I have really enjoyed listening to the Podcast and the journey through getting the girls. Please keep it going.

  9. My wife and I have just begun looking into Foster Care. We enjoyed listening to your podcasts on the way to our orientation the other day. We live in Washington state, but we’re wondering if you could tell us a little about the “Cadillac of Agencies” that you mentioned in the podcast.

Also, that photo album idea was wonderful! We’ll have to try that when the time comes.

  10. Just found your podcasts. Just wanted to comment on something that you said. We are licensed by our county and we do have personal cell phone numbers for both our foster daughter’s placement worker and a social worker that is assigned to us (not the kids in our care) so we are always able to get in touch with someone that could help us in a crunch. My best friend is licensed by an agency and has found that sometimes the extra person in-between her and the county makes it harder to get the right info. I know that might not be the same for every county, but our county is pretty awesome!
