  1. Hey gang,

Sorry we have not been posting and such for so long–our lives have experienced the same busy-ness as yours for the past two months: we’ve gotten some foster kids! :) They are brothers, 5 and 8, and were initially placed with us as emergency respite-care kids. When it turned out they had no place to go, and we fell in love with them too, we decided we would keep them on as long-term foster kids. :)

OK, so one thing we want to say right now, is that all the snitty little judgmental comments we made about parents and parenting when we were happy, carefree DINKS…we “get it” now! It all makes sense! lol!

The adjustment has been quite drastic, but the boys are great kids with a lot of heart and soul (especially considering all they’ve been through), and our families have both welcomed them with open arms and treated them as though they have always been with us. We are a very fortunate family indeed.

We do not know for how long they will stay with us, or whether we for sure will be able to adopt them. (We are interested in adopting them, if the opportunity arises.) For obvious reasons, we cannot get into too many details about the specifics, but we are doing what we can in the time we have to give them the most loving, structured, stable, happy, and fulfilling home for the boys that we can give them.

We both credit you for opening your hearts and your lives to share your fostering experiences with us, the listeners and prospective (and current!) foster parents. You two are an inspiration and are role models for positive foster parenting.

Thanks again for all that you do.

  2. Hi Tim and Wendy,

We are currently waiting for our social worker to get ahold of us to start the home studies. Man does this waiting take forever. Some people call this the pregnancy of the whole adoption. I realize why it has to be this long too. But man it sure tries my patience, and my wife is not known for her patience at all. But here we are waiting for our social worker to start of the next phase of the process.

Just wanted to vent about the waiting is all.
