December has not turned out the way we expected. First, we had a car accident and totaled our family vehicle. Then, today, we accepted placement of a 9-month-old baby girl.
The car accident brought up a discussion about grief and loss. We also touch on the triggers brought on by the holidays for foster children. Finally, 9-month-old Kay teaches us something central to the Christmas story.

I really enjoy your podcast. As a former foster child, (now seventeen years old and have been reunified with my dad for 3 years now), I hear so many absurd things about the foster system. It is either portrayed as much better than it really is, or as a reason to pity the “poor little dears”. And many things that are simply and utterly false.
But this real, true to life account is refreshing. No sugar coating, no dramatization, just what really happens. It is good to know that there are people who are focused on spreading the truth about the situation.
My question is this: I liked the “Crazy System” episode. Could you do a similar myth-debunking episode about what it’s like for foster children?
God bless,
