We recently read The Open Adoption Experience by Lois Ruskai Melina and Sharon Kaplan Roszia. We found this book to be an excellent handbook for navigating open and semiopen adoption. Topics include boundaries between the adoptive family and the birth family; differences between fathers’ and mothers’ concerns; and expectations of birth parents. We also share a letter we wrote to our daughters’ birth mother and birth grandfather.

Love your podcast – has been answering questions that I’ve had about the whole process. I actually love an advertising link about “adoption fashion” that has the phrase – pregnant with love.
I definitely feel this way. I feel like this podcast has been my “what to expecting” that i read 100 x’s when pregnant w/ my first child.
I have a request/suggestion: just as you have the links on the top of the page that say about: promote: contact, etc.
I would love to see a similar link that says “suggested readings”. Book titles plus short explanation?
I love all the books you have, but scanning through 60+ episodes to find them all and determine which ones we should read first, second, etc.
You are such a fabulous resource and have already suggested so many good ideas!
Thank you for your guidance and inspiration.
You are in my prayers, and I will be adding “Carmen and Martin” to our prayers for open minds and for them to embrace what is best for the girls.
